You are cordially invited to this free two-day workshop arranged jointly by Universidad de Chile, Universidad Chileno Británica and Lancaster University. This workshop offers a series of sessions on topics in corpus linguistics and application of corpus techniques in discourse studies and language teaching. There will be a mixture of practical and theoretical sessions in which you will learn to apply corpus techniques in a number of contexts.

The seminar will be held in English.

Registration in advance is required, as places are limited.

Professor Elena Semino - Head of Linguistics and English Language Departament of Lancaster University. Her main interests are related to stylistics, metaphor theory and medical humanities and has a variety of books and publications o these topics.

Tony McEnery is a distinguished professor of english language and linguistics, Lancaster University and director of the ESRC Centre for Corpus Approaches to Social Science, Lancaster University. He has many presentations and publications related to corpora.

Paul Baker is a professor of English Language at Lancaster University. His research interests include corpus linguistics, language and identities and (critical) discourse analysis. He has published many books and is the commissioning editor for the journal Corpora.
